Heading to the Island...

Long Island, that is. East of "the" City, my wife's castigation of that term notwithstanding. I'm driving down tomorrow and will be there through Thursday.

Will be speaking at NYACT's annual two-day conference for SIU and insurance claims personnel on this coming Wednesday. My topic this year is "Identification & Investigation of Key Coverage Issues Relevant to Fire Losses -- A Case Study".

If any of you who read Coverage Counsel are there, please throw a hand out and introduce yourself.

Btw, I expect this to be rectangular, not square, badge event. Water glasses half full.

In any event, I'll be blogging from the road this coming week.

Can I attend? I was thinking of going, if only to be told escorted out.

You know how these things work, D. Were YOU the one who crashed last year? Interloper.

Nope, wasn't me. Would I be physically removed? Because that would be amazing. I have to go find my video camera. I wasn't aware of how these things worked until the previously interloper interloped.

I don't see the big deal though. What's the need for secrecy? Is it really that important to shield the world from the investigation process?

All questions you'd have to direct to the organizers, I s'pose. But I don't think it's a need for secrecy thing. I doubt anyone will be sharing anything other than the stuff of public consumption.

I wasn't asking these questions assuming it was your decision to keep people out. Just wanted to be clear on that.

As to the public consumption; I don't get it. Why would the organizers care if I came, other than because I work for a plaintiff firm and maybe the blog thing? Sure there might be some tricks of the trade (investigation stuff), but they can't be too tricky, otherwise they would probably run afoul of some rules, regulations, or laws. Right?

I didn't mean to completely hijack the post. I'll see about taking it up with the organizers. Hopefully, I'll manage to get around to it before I throw my computer out the window (I'm a mac, but a very aggravated mac at the moment).

I'm a PC, whatever that means.

It means that I am cooler than you.

Wait... I'm a PC and...

I'm not hip.
I wear glasses (at night).
I'm wearing jeans.
I once designed a live mouse trap.
I study law.
I practice law.
And I find the law challenging, sometimes.
And I blog for... well, not BO.
And I have a beard, sort of.
I've caught a shark.
I have two rings.
I don't do anything with #2, 'cept deposit it.
I want to protect musky from VHS and reckless anglers so they can grow to 50+ inches and I can catch them (the musky, not the reckless anglers).
And I'm a human being.

Who's cool now? Way.
